The Intimate Edit
Back in January, I decided I wanted to buy some new underwear sets. I thought it would be pretty simple but it turned into many nights hunting the world wide web for brands that spoke to me. So in the case that you have similar undergarment taste to me, I have saved you that trouble.
Fun fact - before I went full-time with my own business, I merchandised for intimate apparel brands like Calvin Klein. This meant I was around intimates all the time and I noticed a few things to be true. 1. Fit is essential, do not get focused on the size labelling (brands often differ). Search for things that make you feel comfortable and confident in your own skin.
Let’s get some context for what I like so you can come along this ride with me or not. I was on the hunt for some everyday basic types, think cotton & simple silhouettes, no frills. Secondly, I was after pieces that were a little more special, lingerie rather than simple underwear. I wanted pieces that felt feminine, unique but not traditionally ‘sexy’ and comfortable. The problem I ran into straight away is a lot of what came up in searches was ‘sexy’ lingerie. No hate to that in the slightest but it felt like a sexy that wasn’t me. For me there isn’t too much difference between basics and ‘lingerie’ it could just be a fabrication or slight detail. Mainly I was on the hunt that felt like my personal style, in intimate form.
A quick note that I have not been blessed the size arena with my chest so my personal preference is for bralette/soft cup sets as I don’t need a whole heap of support. I also don’t have a work uniform or anything that I need beige t-shirt bras for day to day. Now that is out of the way, let’s get stuck in.
