THE DESIGNER BAG DEBATE

Givenchy Mini Pandora Box 

The designer bag - a very indulgent investment item. The purchase of my first was not taken lightly, spending months putting it in my cart, then taking it out and repeating out loud 'you do not need this' (and of course I don't) but surely 6 months later I really did want it. So after months and months I finally took the plunge and went through with my shopping cart. 

As someone who loves fashion it surprised me how long it took and how much thought went into the process before hitting the Pay Now link. Firstly I knew it came down to my habits with my money, I like it where I can see it (in my bank account contrary to Carrie's 'in my closet'). I also had lots of other thoughts surrounding the purchase so in true over-share fashion, I thought I may as well type them out.

CAN YOU AFFORD IT?

Save for it, don't put something like that on credit. 

WHY AM I WANTING THIS?

Am I truly wanting this bag because I like it? This may seem like an obvious one but it is something to really think about before making the purchase. It is really easy to feel the need to like designer bags because influencers/your girl crush has it. Does it suit what you need in a bag? 

DOES THE BAG SUIT YOU?

This is where I ran through a checklist of what I didn't want or want in a daily bag..

DO WANT:
Something small but big enough to fit my phone and other essentials
Black
An adjustable shoulder strap
A bag that felt like me
Simple but unique at the same tim

DON'T WANT:
A clutch, A Tote or any other large bag
Something that I can only wear on my forearm
Something that there are 1000 fakes of
Something that would date

IS IT AN 'IT' BAG?

I would personally stay clear of these. As much as I was swooning over the Chloe Faye, everyone has one or a replica and I couldn't say that I would still love it in a year. However this doesn't mean it has to be a classic. 

SIT ON IT

 There is no rush, think about it.. because it can be one expensive serving of buyer's regret.
